Christmas Birthday!

You know, those kids who are born in December really get shorted on their birthdays! And those who are born on Christmas Eve or Christmas day don’t even get their own special day.

I had request for a birthday cake from my neighbor. Her mom was born on Christmas day. They celebrate her birthday each year on Christmas Eve. Dinner especially for her and no Christmas themes.

Right in the middle of all of my Christmas decorating I created a very un-Christmas Birthday cake. I was asked not to use any colors that may make the cake look like a Christmas cake. I think it turned out pretty good.

Here’s my first holiday cake.  I know, I’m a little behind.  Looks like this week is going to be one long baking spree.  This cake is for one of my husband’s clients.  Tomorrow – cheesecake and Snickerdoodle cake.  Tuesday – Gift box cake for a birthday.  Then I have to work on my own Christmas cake!!

UPDATE:  This one is for my boss – Snickerdoodle

What do you do when your best friends are moving to Texas?  Well, you bake a cake and throw a party of course!  My best friends received a wonderful opportunity to move to Texas via a job promotion.  It was a tough decision because all of their family is here – parents, siblings and a daughter.  I’m really happy for them, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and the timing just seemed perfect for them.  But, I must admit that I am guilty of being selfish, too.  I don’t want them to leave me!

So here it is – the packing box!  Three-layer 9×13 cake – chocolate, orange and vanilla with vanilla buttercream icing.

Red Velvet, Eiffel Tower and Frogs??

That was the request I received for my neighbor’s birthday cake.  Well, this is what we came up with.  It began as a double layer 9×13 cake.  With some creative carving it grew to 20″ tall!  The French is courtesy of my son, Trey, and UNC-G!  I guess he is learning something.

I’m told that Mike really liked it – he ate it for breakfast, lunch and dinner until it was gone!  Now that’s a lot of cake.
